Montgomery County Deer Population
North Penn Life reports that consultants have determined that the deer population in Montgomery County must be reduced. The good news is that they are recommending that deer hunters be given greater access to parks and private property.
The real interesting part, to me, is how the whitetail deer has seemingly become public enemy #1. Maybe living in the middle of a town, I just can’t relate to the destruction that they can do.
Rhoades noted that there are no shrubs, no wildflowers and no young trees. Deer browsing in the area causes this, she said during a presentation before the county planning commission.
The consultant Rhoades goes onto to say
There are just too many deer…
I am hoping these recommendations bring more opportunities for hunters in Montgomery County and can help find a balance between nature and the needs of suburbia.
