Tuesday’s Odds and Ends for July 15th

Leaser Lake Fishing Regulations Suspended

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) has temporarily suspended all seasons, sizes and creel limits at Leaser Lake in Lehigh County, effective July 1.

“We’re taking this action in preparation for a fish salvage to be conducted this fall in conjunction with the complete draining of the lake,” said Dr. Douglas Austen, PFBC Executive Director. “Enhancing opportunities for anglers to harvest fish prior to salvage efforts provides both additional recreational opportunities and can help reduce the number of fish that will either be captured and transported or potentially stranded when the water level drops.”

More information is available in their press release.

Conneaut Lake Shows Impressive Results in Spring Trapnet and Electrofishing Survey

2x07_10conneaut_np I just read the survey report for Conneaut Lake in Crawford County.  I was impressed by the results.

The Lake is 938 acres and has a variety of species.  17 different species were caught during the survey.  The PFBC checked things out on April 14th.  They caught a lot of panfish but also caught some nice pike and smallmouth bass.

Sweet Arrow Lake Fishing Improving

The Republican Herald had an article on Sweet Arrow Lake in Pine Grove.  The article is really cool because it talks about all of the improvements happening at Sweet Arrow.  I fished there many years ago without much success.  It looked like the lake was on the way to being dead.  This article says the fishing for crappie, trout and bass is significantly improving.  I think it is time for another trip to Sweet Arrow.
