Quebec Woman Killed by Black Bear while Fishing

In a piece of very sad news, a woman in Quebec was killed by a black bear.  The woman had gone fishing when she was attacked.  No one knows the details of the attack as she was alone.  While we welcome the surge in black bear population in Pennsylvania, everyone must remember that black bears can be dangerous.  Mauling-deaths by black bears are extremely rare but can happen.  Use common sense and be aware if you are fishing in an area with lots of bear.

Thank you Fish Fishburn

I was watching the show Bass Champs and observed weigh-in host Fish Fisburn tell a tournament angler to lift his big bass straight up.  I am assuming and hoping he did this to avoid the jaw injury that can happen with other holds.

Stripers and Not Strippers

Too bad about the woman and the bear. I’m always on the look out down here for gators, especially at night or when I’m fishing in a small boat. Usually they dart off in another direction, but some idiots around here are feeding them marshmallows. Great idea, right? I’m not terribly impressed with the way most people hold fish on tv. I can’t say I’m the best at it, but I am trying to improve every day that I catch any. Bass Edge has also made some mistakes. The striper/stripper part made me laugh. I can’t tell you how many times I see people call stripers strippers. Makes ya wonder doesn’t it? That’s one fish I’d like to catch. Not sure how you should read that. It could go either way, I think.
